The border guards in South Ossetia have detained a citizen of Georgia who violated the state border of the Republic and have handed him over to the Georgian side, the press service of the State Security Committee of the Republic has reported on Monday.
"On January 22, on the southern outskirts of the city of Tskhinval, the border authorities of the Republic detained a citizen of Georgia Makashvili Levan Tengizovich, born in 1981, a resident of the village of Bebnisi, Karelian municipality, for violating the regime of the state border. During the preliminary proceedings, it was established that the violator's illegal act was prompted by hopelessness, lack of socio-economic stability in Georgia, as well as the inability to find employment," the report says.
The press service has clarified that taking into account the fact that the detained Makashvili has health problems, on January 24 he was handed over to the Georgian side without penalties.
