Due to the sharp complication of the military-political situation in the Ukrainian direction and the start of a special military operation to ensure the security of the LPR-DPR, an emergency meeting of the Security Council of South Ossetia was held on February 24.
According to the press service of the KGB of the Republic, as part of the implementation of the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Anatoly Bibilov, the State Security Committee, together with the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia, is taking measures to monitor the operational situation on the South Ossetian-Georgian border in order to respond in a timely manner to possible threats from the adjacent territory, as well as ensuring the safety of citizens of the Republic living in the border settlements.
"The information received by the KGB indicates that the situation in the Georgian direction is calm: the movement of military equipment and personnel, as well as the strengthening of the so-called police checkpoints, has not yet been recorded. We urge the inhabitants of the Republic to remain calm and not succumb to the provocations of destructive forces that put aim to complicate the military-political situation in South Ossetia against the backdrop of a special operation in the Donbass," the KGB stressed.
The KGB has reminded that all military border facilities of the Georgian Defense Ministry, as well as possible directions of penetration of violators of the state border, are in the zone of control and sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia.
