The South Ossetian delegation raised the issues of violation of the Republic’s airspace at the meeting held on Tuesday within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) in the village of Ergnet.

As Yegor Kochiev, Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict resolution and the head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM, told reporters, the issue was raised within this format at almost every meeting.

South Ossetia continues to insist on the removal of the Georgian post in the village of Uista from the territory of the Republic.

As noted by the head of the South Ossetian delegation Yegor Kochiev after the meeting in the IPRM format, this was announced by the South Ossetian party.

“Since the previous meeting, there have been no incidents in the area of the village of Uista, but earlier there were cases when actions of an incomprehensible nature were recorded by the Georgian police, the presence of incomprehensible persons on the territory of the talc plant.

Another meeting in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) will be held on the border of South Ossetia and Georgia on Monday, the press service of the Office of the RSO Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for Post-Conflict Settlement told IA "Res".

"Security issues and violations of the state border will be discussed at the meeting in the village of Ergneti. The South Ossetian party will once again raise the issue of removing the illegal Georgian police post from the territory of South Ossetia," the press service said.

On Tuesday, the capital of South Ossetia will host a meeting of the OSCE, the UN and the European Union co-chairs of the Geneva discussions with their South Ossetian colleagues, the press service of the Presidential Plenipotentiary's Office for post-conflict settlement told IA “Res”.

“As part of the visit of the delegation, at 9.45, a meeting with the South Ossetian participants of the Geneva discussions will take place. The parties will discuss the agenda of the upcoming round, after which a briefing will be held on the results of the meeting,” the press service said.

The urgency of developing a legally binding document on the non-use of force between Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia is even more growing against the background of the events and calls to unleash a new armed conflict that took place in Georgia in March 2023.

The meeting in Geneva was held in two working groups: on security and on humanitarian issues.

A two-day 57th round of discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia began in Geneva on Tuesday. According to the press service of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry, within the framework of the first day of work, the South Ossetian delegation held meetings with the co-chairs and moderators of the 1st and 2nd working groups, at which key issues on the agenda of the main discussion day were discussed.

The prospects for the resumption of the work of the Geneva format after a prolonged downtime, as well as the participation of the Russian, Abkhaz and South Ossetia parties in it, were discussed at the meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, Irakli Tuzhba and State Council of President of South Ossetia Konstantin Kochiev.

In Tskhinval, a meeting of the participants of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva International Discussions with the EU, the OSCE and the UN co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions was held in the format of a videoconference. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, during the meeting a number of issues related to the upcoming 57th round of discussions were discussed.

The South Ossetian delegation has expressed hope that the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format will improve with the appointment of a new head of the EU monitoring mission in Georgia, Dimitrios Karabalis.

“The 111th meeting in the IPRM format was held with the participation of the new head of the mission. We hope that after he becomes aware of the matter, perhaps something will be changed,” said Yegor Kochiev, the head of the South Ossetian delegation in the IPRM format.

Negotiations in the framework of the Geneva discussions
