Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia has been nominated for the Presidency

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia accepted a package of documents from a group of citizens, nominating Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity as the presidential candidate in the upcoming elections on March 25. As reported to IA " Res" by the representative of the CEC of the Republic "these documents will be reviewed within five days, then a decision on registration or refusal of registration the initiative group on nominating Yuri Dzitstsoity as the presidential candidate will be made. In case of registration the initiative group will receive a certificate of registration, which will enable it to collect signatures in support of their candidate," Earlier, the CEC of South Ossetia has already registered two initiative groups nominating Deputy Defense Minister Igor Alborov and ex-Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia Kabisov Georgy as the presidential candidates.

Alla Dzhioeva withdrew her signature under the compromise agreement

Ex-presidential candidate of South Ossetia Alla Dzhioeva withdrew her signature under the compromise agreement signed December 9, 2011 on resolving the political crisis in the Republic after the November presidential election. As reported to IA "Res" by Alla Dzhioeva, the letter with notification of withdrawal from the agreement and the requirement to the Acting President Vadim Brovtsev to transfer her power was sent to the presidential administration on January 17.

Representatives of the South Ossetian and Georgian civil society have met in Bethlehem

The tenth meeting of representatives of the South Ossetian and Georgian civil society was being held on January 11-14, 2012 in the town of Bethlehem (Israel) within the framework of social dialogue "Viewpoint." This has been reported to IA "Res" by one of the participants of the meeting, the Chairman of the South Ossetian Women's Association for Democracy and Human Rights Lira Tskhovrebova. According to her, the meetings are conducted by the Faculty of Analysis and Conflict Resolution at the George Mason University since December 2008. CEC has registered the second action group

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the initiative group for nominating a candidate for the presidency Georgy Kabisov. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC of South Ossetia, the initiative group was registered on January 14 and became eligible to begin collecting 1000 signatures in support of its nominated candidate. It should be noted that Georgy Kabisov (earlier holding a post of the Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia) participated in the presidential elections on November, 13, 2011, but didn`t reach the presidential run-off, gaining 7.5% of the vote.

Athlete from Tskhinval became the head coach in boxing of the Public and State Athletic and Sports Association "Youth of Russia"

Whether the OSCE admission to South Ossetia is real?

Recently voices for OSCE admission to South Ossetia have once again been heard from Tbilisi. This organization was working in our country during 15 years. The period from 1993 to 2008 was quite enough to understand its essence. What the OSCE means for South Ossetia knows everyone: false provocative and actually inciting to attacking us, slanderous fabrications under the pretext of «objective reports on a situation in a conflict zone».

Bloody Christmas of 1991

Genocide: as it was. 21 year later
Christmas of 1991 added a bloody page in the history of Ossetia.
January, 6, 1991 – is the beginning of the overt armed aggression of Georgia against the people of South Ossetia. On the night of January, 6 internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, which had had to support stability, without notice of the Republican leadership deserted their posts and went to the barracks. At 4 o'clock in the morning 3-thousand group of the Georgian militia among which there were the Georgian gunmen, criminals and addicts, amnestied the day before and disguised as militiamen, entered the town. They had considerable quantity of military equipment and dogs. Georgian "militia" occupied the central part of the town, blocked all roads and crossroads. Tortures, arrests, violence, murders, arsons began. In the afternoon of January, 6 the Georgian "militiamen" opened fire on the unarmed people. One man was killed, several were wounded. Their first victim became Kochiev Grisha Fedorovich, 32 years old, an inhabitant of Tskhinval, who under fire had covered his children with his body. The same night four persons were also wounded.
