February 1 – the Day of Ossetian Science: about the history of the holiday

February 1 is the Day of Science in South Ossetia. The holiday was established on February 4, 2014. Prior to this, Science Day was celebrated on February 8, as in Russia. The date of February 1 was chosen in connection with a significant event: on February 1, 1922, the "Scientific and Literary Society" was created - the first scientific institution in South Ossetia.

New wave of coronavirus has "covered" South Ossetia. Anti-records are updated almost daily. The number of detected cases of infection over the past day exceeded 200 people. At the same time, it can already be judged that the new wave is easier to bear.

In the “red zone” of the Republican Medical Center, 46 people are being treated, compared with the autumn wave, when the number of patients simultaneously treated in the infectious diseases’ hospital reached 180, and sometimes even 200 people, one can judge a milder form of the disease.

In South Ossetia, there has been registered a new anti-record for the number of cases of coronavirus

In South Ossetia, 204 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in a day, a total of 372 tests were carried out, Marina Kochieva, a head of the South-Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee old the IA “Res”.

"To date 1,527 residents of the Republic are under the supervision of doctors with a positive test for covid, 65 people have been removed from the medical register. The number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic has grown to 12,102 people, 10,575 have recovered," Kochieva said.

Artifacts are the evidence of the continuity of the Scythian, Sarmatian and Alanian cultures - Robert Gagloity

The South Ossetian Research Institute sent an appeal to UNESCO on the return of Scythian gold to the museums of Crimea, said director of the Vaneev South Ossetian Research Institute, archaeologist Robert Gagloity.

According to him, another appeal was made by the Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia.

“Any work that relates to our history is carried out in agreement with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia,” said Gagloity.
