On May 9, Plenipotentiary representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in the Benelux countries, Radion Pukhaev, took part in the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the monument to the Soviet citizens, fallen in Belgium during the Second World War.

According to the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, the event took place in the Brussels commune of Ever.

The artist of the choral band of the South Ossetian State Song and Dance group "Simd" Alexander Midelauri took part in the musical project of the youth organization of compatriots in Argentina "Phoenix" and the Club of Friends of Crimea in the Latin American country.

On its Telegram channel, Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia shared a video clip for the song “At a Nameless Height,” dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the press service of the head of the South Ossetian state reports.

Vladimir Putin congratulated Alan Gagloev and the people of South Ossetia on the Victory Day and wished them good health and prosperity.

The head of the South Ossetian state thanked Vladimir Putin for his warm congratulations and on behalf of the people, the leadership of the Republic and on his own behalf congratulated him on the Great Victory Day.

The Soviet people gave millions of lives for the great victory, and South Ossetia was close to the fraternal people during the Great Patriotic War, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov said at the gala reception of the Embassy on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Portraits of the Great Patriotic War veterans were carried on Thursday on the main square of the capital of South Ossetia.

Following the traditional Victory Parade, a mass procession took place in honor of Victory Day - the “Immortal Regiment”.

The procession was led by President of the Republic Alan Gagloev, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev and Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov.

The head of state carried a portrait of his grandfather’s brother Mate Gagloev, who went missing during the Great Patriotic War.

South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov congratulated each other on the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Foreign Ministry press service reports.

“The sacred holiday of the Great Victory has enormous unifying power for many peoples and generations. This is a day of enduring glory, military and civil valor, the fortitude of the multinational Soviet people, who stood shoulder to shoulder in the difficult struggle against fascism,” Akhsar Dzhioev’s congratulation message says.

Contrary to expectations, Nazism, defeated during the Second World War, did not disappear; it only lay hidden for many decades. In some countries, the direct heirs of former SS men, punishers, policemen and ideological followers of Nazi ideas managed to instill their ideas in a certain part of society. This was stated in the speech of South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev at the Victory Parade in Tskhinval.

On all fronts of the Great Patriotic War, the Ossetian warriors showed vivid examples of heroism, military art and readiness not to spare either themselves or the enemy for the sake of victory, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev said, speaking on Thursday at the military parade in Tskhinval on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in WWII.

On Tuesday the delegation of South Ossetia took part in the funeral ceremony of farewell to Doctor of History Vladimir Kuznetsov, the press service of the Republic’s Parliament reports.

“The farewell ceremony for the Soviet and Russian historian and archaeologist in Vladikavkaz was attended by Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Alan Alborov, rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev and the head of the South Ossetian consulate in Vladikavkaz Maurice Sanakoev,” the statement of the press service reads.

The Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia laid a wreath on behalf of the people of the Republic at the foot of the Motherland monument at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg.

The event took place on Wednesday, on the eve of the celebration of the 79th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War.

As noted by the press service of the diplomatic organization, the column of representatives of diplomatic missions was traditionally led by the delegation of the South Ossetian Embassy in Russia.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims.
