The regular meeting of the Joint Control Commission on the resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict (JCC) should have taken place on 11-12 July. At the request the Georgian side the meeting has been postponed. In this regard the of “Res” agency approached for comments to Mr. Boris Chochiev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Government, Co-Chairman of the Ossetian side of the JCC:
“The Ossetian side is looking into the issue now. All the statements that we hear from the Georgian politicians differ from the acts of the Georgian leadership. The highest political leadership is trying to convince both us and the International Community that Georgia excludes coercive acts and is entirely for peaceful resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict. The activities that are carried out convey other meaning, particularly the transfer of the military hospital, construction of a mortuary and just yesterday was laid a foundation for a large military base near a settlement called Dzevera, the area that is part of the peacekeeping forces’ responsibility zone. All these arrangements have an impact on the negotiation process. Our participation in JCC meeting depends on how the Georgian side will act”, - said Mr. Chochiev.
