The situation with the water supply of the capital of RSO – Tskhinval remains extremely complicated. As deputy mayor of Tskhinval Alan Kotaev informed “Res” correspondent town water supply was practically cut off at 12 o’clock on 13 January evening.
“Today at 00.00 the water supply of the town had been completely ceased. However, in the morning small quantity of water supply resumed. Presently water debit is about 30%” Kotaev said.
Besides that Alan Kotaev informed that “these days monitoring group will continue the work at the temporary uncontrolled to RSO authorities Edis-Tskhinval water-pipe sector with the use of ultrasound measuring device and we will definitely clarify the holes illegally made by the Georgian side”.
It is significant that difficulties with water supply this winter practically began from 1 January 2008. According to South Ossetian side Edis-Tskhinval water-pipe damage is used by the Georgian side as the pressure upon the population of the zone of conflict. It’s worth mention that on 11 of January so called Temporary administration controlling Georgian villages at the Kekhvi-Tamarasheni Transkam sector through which water-pipe Edis-Tskhinval passes stated the readiness of full financing and rehabilitation of Tskhinval water supply, although monitoring groups couldn’t define courses of water supply cut to the capital of South Ossetia. The only thing determined by monitoring is the fact that the bulk of water coming to the territory controlled by Georgian side is about 80%, although Tskhinval receiving from 10% to 30% of water or not receiving at all.
