On October 28, a quadrilateral meeting of the working groups under the Geneva Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) will be held in the village of Ergneti at the borderline between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia.
As the head of the South Ossetian delegation Merab Chigoev told IA RES, representatives from Georgia, Russia and the EU would also attend the meeting.
It is worth reminding that the the last fifth meeting at the borderline Georgian village of Ergneti was held October 22, 2009.
The South Ossetian delegation then raised the question of the fate of the citizens of South Ossetia, who, according to the authorities of the Republic, were in captivity with the Georgian law enforcement bodies.
Noteworthy, the decision to hold regular meetings of working groups in joint Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism was made at the fourth round of the Geneva discussions.
To implement these mechanisms, working groups were established to include representatives of the institutions responsible for security and public order in their territories, as well as international organizations, OSCE and the EU in areas of their responsibility and in accordance with the mandate.
These mechanisms implied weekly meetings on the Georgian territory adjacent to the border of South Ossetia, near the village of Ergneti.
It should be noted that South Ossetia a year ago refused to participate in these negotiations due to the lack of progress. The decision to resume the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism was made at the 13th round of the Geneva discussions that took place on Oct. 14, 2010.
