His opponent was 30 year old Mexican boxer James Vento, who had alreadyheld 27 professional boxing fights,"- said Slanov. "Kozaev`s opponent from the very beginning decided to strain the bout, and uncompromising fight was held between the boxers. During another attack of the Mexican athlete, Kozaev successfully struck Vento a semi-lateral powerful blowfrom the right and the Mexicanwas knocked down. - continued the coach. - However, thanks to his strength of will Vento got up and after the referee finished the counting, the bout was continued. But at the end of the first period Kozaev successfully attacked his opponent and after the exact series of blows knocked him out."
According to Slanov, the fight of Kozaev was being observed by a well-known Filipino professional boxer, the world champion under versions of WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO Manny Pacquiao, whom the Ossetian fighter, as a sparring partner, assists in training for the upcoming fight for the title of the world champion on June, 4, 2012.
"After the bout Pacquiao and his trainer - the world-renowned boxing expert Freddie Roach appealed to our athlete with a request to hold the next sparring with Pacquiao in the coming days and Kozaev agreed - added Slanov. - Earlier, Kozaev and Pacquiao have already held two fights before the upcoming fight of the Filipino boxer for the world title."
Slanov has also said that after his victory over the Mexican fighter, Kozaev received a number of promising proposals for holding the next fight in the U.S.
"We`ll thoroughly discuss these proposals and in the near future will determine the opponent and the date of the bout" – underlined a coach of the Ossetian athlete.
It should be noted that Kozaev is being trained in the Tskhinval branch of the boxing club "Ariana" by the honored coach of South Ossetia and Russia Vitaly Slanov and master of sports Alexander Tedeev. The Ossetian boxer is representing the Russian promotional company "Ural Boxing Promotion."
