We, members of the international round table "For Peace and Harmony in the Caucasus", held in Tskhinval August 8, 2012, - the day of the fourth anniversary of the Georgian aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia, following the universally recognized human rights, understanding the sociopolitical situation in the Caucasus, the goodwill and sense of civic responsibility:
- Are expressing concern at the growing revanchist sentiments in Georgia, where by the efforts of Mikhail Saakashvili and his team the idea of revenge for their defeat in the five-day war has raised to the rank of the state policy. We are also concerned about the intensified militarization of the country, wild bellicose rhetoric of the Georgian politicians, refusal of the Georgian leadership to sign at the state level the agreements on non-use of force in settling the Georgian-Ossetian and the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. We call on the Georgian leadership to a sober assessment of the political realities, prevailing after August 2008;
- We are also worried that, despite the taken measures, in a number of the Caucasian constituent regions of the Russian Federation is still not eliminated the threat of terrorist acts and other attacks by illegal armed gangs, which have claimed hundreds of innocent people;
- We call upon the power structures, public organizations, scientists, writers and artists to repulse the religious extremism, especially Wahhabism, all those who under the guise of Islam are terrorizing the population of the same faith and are killing the Muslim spiritual leaders, including in mosques, thus discrediting the true values of Islam;
- we regard the efforts of the Georgian leadership to revise the results of the Caucasian war of the early XIX century as undisguised interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation . The falsification of history is pursuing improper aims to split the unity and solidarity of the peoples in the Caucasus, as well as disruption of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014;
- We strongly affirm that the attempts to destabilize the sociopolitical situation in the Caucasus are doomed to failure. The Caucasus nations are by right considering the Russian Federation as the only reliable guarantor of security of the peoples of the North Caucasus republics, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
