March 31 members of the international rally "Relay of Memory", dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will arrive in South Ossetia. This was said by State Councilor to the RSO President Zhanna Zasseeva at today's meeting of the Republican Commission on arranging the State significant events.
"It`s the second year project, implemented on the initiative of the All-Ukrainian Coordinating Council with the support of the State Duma deputies and members of the Public Chamber of Russia, the Afghan veterans and other Russian organizations, as well as South Ossetia and Abkhazia", - she said.
Zasseeva has stressed that for every family in South Ossetia the victory in the Great Patriotic War is of immense importance.
"It's great that the organizers of the relay have included our Republic - that means they have also recognized our victory and the heroism of our people. It is well known that during the World War II the Ossetians proved to be the bravest people ", - said Zasseeva.
She has also focused on the fact that the CIS member states are going to support the initiative put forward by the leadership of the Russian Federation for formation of a modern Eurasian Union –the competent successorof the Soviet Union.
"We, the first, have to support this initiative, because we are well aware of the price of internationalism. This should become the leitmotif of all our activities, "- she said.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the details of the activities of the international "Relay of Memory" in South Ossetia. All members of the National Commission were given appropriate instructions.
It should be noted that the international rally "Relay of Memory" was launched in Sevastopol on March 23. For 48 days the participants of the rally will visit 13 hero cities, 37 Russian cities of military glory, and 10 cities, awarded the First Class Order of the World War in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Representatives of the international project will bring to the 13 hero cities a massive 200-meter copy of the Victory Banner. May 9 this copy of the Victory Banner will be brought to Red Square, where the rally will finish.
The rally is organized for the second year as part of a large project "Our Great Victory."
