The revanchist encroachments of Georgia demand decisive actions from the Foreign Intelligence Service of South Ossetia, said President Anatoly Bibilov, speaking at a solemn meeting on the 15th anniversary of the founding of the FIS of the RSO.
Congratulating the intelligence officers on a landmark date, Bibilov has noted that the formation of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic took place at a difficult time, when Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili began active preparations for resolving conflicts with South Ossetia and Abkhazia by force.
The President has stressed that the revanchist actions on the part of Georgia still require from the Foreign Intelligence Service decisive actions and a serious attitude of the employees to their functional duties.
“Your work is aimed at ensuring that the people of South Ossetia live in peace, that the Republic will develop and that the encroachments that are being undertaken today by Georgian are minimized,” said the President.
The head of state has also noted that employees of the Foreign Intelligence Service once and again justify the confidence of the people and the country's leadership in defending the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia.
In turn, the head of the FIS Alexei Varziev, on behalf of the personnel of the department, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Republic for their confidence.
“We are aware of the full responsibility for the security of the people of the Republic of South Ossetia. The work of our service does not have external manifestations of its activities, but is necessary for the peaceful creation of the state. The invisible confrontation to the special services of Georgia and their patrons does not stop for a minute,” he stressed.
To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of South Ossetia, Alexey Varziev awarded the head of state with the medal "15 years of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the RSO", specially prepared for the anniversary date. The departmental award was also presented to the head of the government Erik Pukhaev, the Speaker of the Parliament Peter Gassiev and the heads of the security forces of the Republic.
At the end of the solemn meeting, a concert was given with the participation of the well-known South Ossetian performer of classical chanson, a laureate of many Russian and international competitions Igor Tasoev.
