International observers from Russia, South Ossetia, the Lugansk and Donetsk republics will observe the second round of elections of the President of Abkhazia, scheduled for September 8.

According to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Abkhazia, Tamaz Gogiya, this time he did not send invitations to work as observers to colleagues from the Russian Federation, Transnistria and South Ossetia.

According to the CEC, in the first round on August 25, the current President of Abkhazia Raul Khadjimba gained 24.83%, his closest rival, the leader of the opposition party "Amtsakhara" Alkhas Kvitsiniya - 22.91%. They entered the second round, which is scheduled for September 8.

In total, nine candidates participated in the August 25 elections: former Deputy Foreign Minister, Advisor to the Minister of Defense Oleg Arshba won 22.56%, former Chairman of the State Security Service Astamur Tarba - 6.89%, former Minister of Internal Affairs Leonid Dzapshba - 5.97%, former Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Adzynba - 4.32%, MP Almas Dzhapua - 2.12%, the lecturer at the Abkhazian State University Arthur Ankva- 1.7%, entrepreneur Astamur Kakalia - 1,02%.
