Special services of South Ossetia notice the activation of Georgian security forces near the borders
The other day, the State Security Committee issued a statement on intensifying the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in certain sections of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia with Georgia.
"Information is received by the State Security Committee of South Ossetia that on the Georgian territory, opposite the village of Grom in Tskhinval district, Georgian Interior Ministry officials are conducting reconnaissance of the area, as well as preparatory work is being done to put up additional observation posts or roadblocks," the agency reports.
As noted in the statement, in the village of Adzvi of the Gori municipality, which borders the village of Artseu in Tskhinval district of South Ossetia, the number of Georgian police personnel has increased from 8 to 40 people. One Otokar-Cobra armored personnel carrier and four Toyota-Hailux vehicles were spotted at the post.
An increase in the number of personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia from 6 to 12 people occurred at the posts in the settlements of Adzvistavi and Akhalubani of the Gori municipality.
The construction of a police post of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has begun in the village of Khurvaleti of the Gori municipality. The construction team demolished the dilapidated household and cleared the site using construction equipment.
"We believe that the activity of the Georgian security forces on the South Ossetian-Georgian section of the state border is aimed at destabilizing the situation, eroding the state border regime and creating prerequisites for the escalation of tension," the South Ossetian intelligence service summarizes.
Unfortunately, the Georgian side did not limit itself to provoking the seizure of part of the territory of South Ossetia near the village of Tsnelis. As we can see, the Georgian security forces are beginning to encircle the borders of South Ossetia by construction of police posts. The actions of the Georgian security forces fit into the model that they applied from 2004 to 2008. Then the armed intervention against South Ossetia was preceded by the construction of police posts and engineering structures near the borders of South Ossetia, an increase in personnel, the gradual transfer of equipment: first automobile, and then military. That is, the Georgian side created a bridgehead and conditions for the offensive. The crown of successive actions was a brutal fire attack on South Ossetia and an attempt to seize the territory of the Republic.
Not worthwhile to exaggerate the danger so far, but underestimate
the intentions of chauvinist Georgia - it means to remain in a facile optimism. The fact is that the recent statements by the NATO head Rasmussen that it is time for Georgia to decide and join NATO without South Ossetia and Abkhazia may provoke the Georgian side to inadequate actions. That is, to try to get involved in another military adventure against South Ossetia, because Georgia does not agree to join NATO with "territorial losses".
Unfortunately, Georgia did not take into account the lessons of 2008 and continues its aggressive rhetoric, supported by military assistance from the USA, NATO and leading European countries. Tbilisi, probably, did not fully realize that the nuclear power - Russia, is the guarantor of the security of South Ossetia. In accordance with the Alliance and Integration Treaty between Russia and South Ossetia, “if one of the Contracting Parties is subjected to aggression (armed attack) by any state, group of states or illegal armed groups, it will be considered as the aggression (armed attack) against the other Contracting Party. "
This means that Russia will not remain indifferent in the event of an attack on South Ossetia, Russia, in accordance with the spirit and letter of the Treaty, as well as the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with South Ossetia, the Agreement between Russia and South Ossetia on a unified Russian military base on the territory of South Ossetia, will take immediate and comprehensive measures to neutralize the threat to the security of the people of South Ossetia, who are also Russian citizens.
And if Georgia does not reject aggressive rhetoric, does not understand that there is no alternative to the world, and does not stop rattling arms, there is a high probability that the inscription on the wall of a military town in the Georgian city of Gori, made by soldiers of the 71st motorized rifle regiment of the Russian army in August 2008 , will take a real shape ...
