South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov met with Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev, the press service of the head of state reports.
The head of the Foreign Ministry reported on the results of the work during the visit to several West European countries, and on the meetings with politicians from different countries.
“The trip was more than useful for our Republic. As part of the business trip, I met with deputies of the regional Parliament of Berlin. On their initiative, the "Club of Friends of South Ossetia" was created in Germany. The interest of deputies in South Ossetia is important,” he said.
The Foreign Minister has noted that the trip to Italy was also interesting.
“In Milan, I met with an initiative group that had already been to our Republic and knew South Ossetia well.. The group established the Association "Friendship Alanya-Italy". At the meeting, we discussed various areas of interaction, starting with the political and ending with the economic sphere,” he stressed.
Dmitry Medoev has also noted that in Naples he met with representatives of legal circles who expressed their readiness to represent the interests of South Ossetia in the recognition of the Ossetian genocide by the Georgian authorities in the 1920s.
“In 2020, there will be 100 years of the Ossetian genocide committed by Georgia. If our government appeals to lawyers, they will undertake to study and represent the interests of South Ossetia at the international platforms” he said.
In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted the fruitful work carried out during a meeting in Brussels with the European Parliament deputy Tatyana Zhdanok. The meeting discussed the possibility of holding joint events and round tables dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Ossetian genocide by vomited byGeorgia. Anatoly Bibilov called the work of Dmitry Medoev fruitful during the European tour and called for further work in this direction.
“As part of your business trip to the European countries, you visited the European Parliament, took part in a number of important meetings in order to present our Republic, as well as objectively presenting historical facts,” the President said.
He has noted that it is necessary to combine the work of the commission on genocide, as well as the work carried out by the South Ossetian parliamentarians.
“The policy of bringing objective information about the Ossetian genocide to the world community needs to be continued. All these years, the facts about this have been hushed up. Now is just the time when public figures and politicians from various countries began to show a keen interest in what actually happened 100 years ago,” the head of state said.
He has also added that the available supporting documents should be made available to the world community.
