The Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia took part in the farewell ceremony with the ex-mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, the press service of the Embassy said.
A wreath was laid on behalf of the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov.
Earlier, Anatoly Bibilov sent a telegram of condolences to the current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, relatives and friends of Yuri Luzhkov in connection with his death.
“In the memory of every resident of the Republic of South Ossetia, Yuri Mikhailovich will forever remain a person who has made a truly invaluable contribution to the post-war reconstruction of our capital.
One of the capital's streets, named in his honor, and a neighborhood built on his initiative, will always remind residents of Tskhinval of Yuri Mikhailovich.
I express my sincere condolences, words of support and participation to the family, relatives and friends of Yuri Mikhailovich in connection with the grave and irreparable loss that befell them,” the condolences said.
Yuri Luzhkov, who headed Moscow from 1992 to 2010, died on Tuesday at the age of 84th. Ex-mayor will be buried at the Novodevichy cemetery.
