The photo exhibition "Moments ... of Hell", dedicated to the next anniversary of Georgia's military aggression against South Ossetia, opened on Friday in the foyer of the Republican National Library.
The photographs show the tragic pages of our history, they were taken during the "five-day war" of August 2008.
To be in a dark basement again ...
Looking at the photographs, the events of the August war come to life again, these five terrible days and nights of hell. The dark room, dim candlelight and silence reminded of the basements of Tskhinvali, which became the only protection for people.
The black canvas contains photographs of victims of the Georgian aggression, another round of genocide of the Ossetian people by Georgia: destroyed houses, crying children, in whose eyes despair and misunderstanding of what is happening around and what they are guilty of......
The lenses of photographers working in South Ossetia at that time recorded in detail the atrocities of the Georgian fascists: burnt and torn body parts, chopped off corpses with split skulls ...
The only thing I ask is not to forget ...
Minister of Culture of South Ossetia Zhanna Zasseyeva, addressing the youth present at the photo exhibition, noted that the events of the genocide of the Ossetian people must not be forgotten so that the war does not repeat itself.
“When a person dies, time says - time will pass, you will forget everything, only memory speaks - and from time to time I will come and remind. The only thing I ask of you, do not forget those who gave their lives for our freedom and peaceful sky,” she said.
No matter how many years pass - we will remember 2008
One of the visitors to the exhibition, People's Artist of South Ossetia Vasily Tekhov, said that the events of 2008 are a huge tragedy for South Ossetia.
“Not a single person should forget the atrocities of the Georgians. The names of those who died for the independence of our republic should not be forgotten,” he said.
Painful and scary
Ruslan Ottayev, a resident of the city of Tskhinval, has noted that he was fourteen years old when Georgia attacked South Ossetia, during these five days of the war he was with his grandmother in the village of Zar.
“I will never forget the events of 2008. We must remember our heroes and honor their memory. I look at the pictures and ask myself - why were we killed? Because we are Ossetians,” he said.
