On the 12th anniversary of the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by the Russian Federation, several events were held in Vladikavkaz, timed to coincide with the important date, - reports the correspondent of the IA "Res" in Vladikavkaz.
In the afternoon, a column of motorists and motorcyclists made a rally to the Walk of Fame, the participants laid flowers at the monument to the voluntary entry of Ossetia into Russia, then went to the memorial complex "Barbashovo Field".
In the evening on the square in front of the Tkhapsaev North Ossetian State Academic Theater, a festive concert was organized for residents and guests of Vladikavkaz with the participation of pop stars of Ossetia, including Eduard Daurov, Nodar Gutsati, Vano Bekoev, Ruslan Kabaloti, Oleg Taysaev, Ibragim Dzhioev, Vladimir Kachmazov and others.
President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov addressed the audience with video congratulations.
- The recognition of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation has become for us the beginning of a new era, in which there is no place for wars, bloodshed, aggression. An era that gives us the opportunity to enjoy people, plan life, develop and prosper. On the Day of Recognition of Independence, we again pay tribute to the feat of the defenders of the Fatherland and the heroism of the Russian servicemen. We express our deep gratitude to the leadership of the Russian Federation for the decision made, which is invaluable for our people, - Anatoly Bibilov said in a video message to the participants of the action.
He has also noted that the Day of Recognition of the Independence of South Ossetia is a common holiday for the north and south of Ossetia.
- Dear friends, I greet all those gathered in Vladikavkaz to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the recognition of independence, to celebrate a holiday that is common to the north and south of Ossetia, just as all historical events that are tragic or signify victory and joy are common to us ... In the most difficult times, the South Ossetians found support and shelter in the north, and volunteers from North Ossetia were fighting and died for the freedom and independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. Therefore, it is important to celebrate together the holidays.
The deputy of the State Duma Artur Taymazov, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ruslanbek Ikaev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Kochiev took part in the festive event.
- First of all, for all Ossetians August 26 is a significant day. We know how many tears were shed in South Ossetia, how many difficulties our brothers had to go through before the Russian Federation recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Therefore, I congratulate everyone on this significant day. For many years South Ossetia was heading towards this historic event, and the recognition of its independence was the only correct and necessary decision. And if in the near future the south and north of Ossetia unite, it will be even better, - said the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Artur Taymazov.
- To stop the 20-year bloodshed, it was necessary to recognize the independence of South Ossetia. We see that all these years the people of South Ossetia live in peace, this is the most important thing. I wish the prosperity of South Ossetia, so that young people study, develop, benefit the Motherland, - the head of the Vladikavkaz Defense Ministry Ruslanbek Ikaev wished the people of South Ossetia.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Kochiev shared his opinion.
During the August 2008 war, Alan Kochiev was in Tskhinval, was an active participant in the youth government of the RSO, took part in youth actions aimed at recognizing South Ossetia.
- We have been waiting for this day for many years - all these years of hardship, war and hope. Our generation is the same age as the Republic. Our generation is the same age as the Republic. We lived and live the same life and felt the full bitterness of loss and the great joy of victory
On August 26, 2008, none of us knew when we would be able to achieve recognition of our statehood, but we firmly believed that it would come true. And yet, the news of the recognition of South Ossetia by Russia was unexpected. Emotions overwhelmed us, the streets of Tskhinval were full of people, tears of joy and happiness welling up in our eyes. It is difficult to express what we felt, what a single emotional mood was felt in the air. This is one of the happiest days of my life.
I hope that all the hardest things are behind us, and successes and new achievements are ahead.
I am sure that we will succeed. We are immensely grateful to Russia and the people who made this difficult decision. Thank you, Russia.
It should be reminded that on the night of August 8, 2008 Georgia carried out an armed attack on South Ossetia. Russia rose to defend the Republic. More than a thousand people died as a result of the five-day war. August 26, 2008 – the RF recognized the independence of the RSO.
