President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov at the meeting with doctors of the Academician I.P. Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of the Republic for the assistance provided in the fight against the pandemic, the press service of the head of state reports.
For two weeks, Russian specialists who arrived in South Ossetia to assist in the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus infection, were working in the Tskhinval hospitals, sharing their experience in the treatment of COVID-19.
The President has noted that South Ossetian doctors highly appreciate the experience and knowledge shared with them by their colleagues from St. Petersburg.
The meeting was also attended by the Acting Minister of Health and Social Development of the RSO Georgy Totchiev.
“This virus has affected the life and plans of people, the economy of states. Unfortunately, it is not necessary to say that some state has prepared for this pandemic by building a certain defensive position. But today, thanks to you, the doctors who came here from St. Petersburg, and thanks to the military hospital located here, on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, we are fighting this virus.
I am sincerely grateful to you because when you feel the shoulder of a friend, then it is easier to move, fight, it is easier to do everything to improve the performance in the fight against coronavirus,” he said.
Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation of the Scientific Clinical Center of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Alexander Khryapa and cardiovascular surgeons of the Scientific Research Institute of Surgery and Emergency Medicine Vladimir Komok and Alan Dulaev were awarded by the Head of State with the Honorary Diplomas of the Republic of South Ossetia for help and support provided to the Republic of South Ossetia in fight against the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
Alexander Khryapa thanked Anatoly Bibilov for the warm welcome.
“We are very pleased, Anatoly Ilyich. We did our best to help sick people,” he said.
The President asked the guests to assess the work of the South Ossetian doctors who are currently helping patients with COVID-19.
“We were working closely with doctors and advised. And if there were any shortcomings, then they are corrected rather quickly, the patients should have noticed it,” said Alexander Khryapa.
During the coronavirus pandemic in South Ossetia, 9188 studies have ben tested for COVID-19, the total number of cases since mid-September has reached 1460 people, 20 citizens of the Republic have died.
