The Georgian authorities have been bringing to the international community a completely one-sided false, politicized information, creating a completely untrue negative image of the Republic of South Ossetia. This was stated at the briefing at the State Committee for Information and Press of the Republic on Wednesday, by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Republic for post-conflict settlement, the head of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva discussions, Murat Dzhioev.
“When distinguished guests visit Georgia, the authorities of the country, instead of arranging for them a cultural program with visits to theaters and museums, bring them to the border with South Ossetia and arrange observation points for them, from where they view South Ossetia through binoculars,” the Plenipotentiary said.
He noted that "the South Ossetian party declared in Geneva that the Republic of South Ossetia was an open state, ready to cooperate with everyone who respects our state and recognizes the possibility of coming to the Republic through the only existing road that runs from the Russian Federation."
“We have noted that one cannot see South Ossetia through binoculars, and in any case, it will be a view from the Georgian side, that is, through Georgian eyes,” Dzhioev said.
The Plenipotentiary has added that the South Ossetian delegation described the situation in the areas adjacent to the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia as stable and tense.
“At the same time, we have stressed that, first of all, the tension was created by the Georgian side by constructing the Georgian police post on the territory of South Ossetia near the village of Uista. And since August 2019, we have been striving for it to be withdrawn from the territory of our Republic. With this we link the situation along the entire perimeter of the South Ossetian-Georgian border,” said Murat Dzhioev.
He has added that the South Ossetian party clearly stated at the last round in Geneva that the situation created by the Georgian authorities in the Uista area was a factor of tension along the entire perimeter of the state border.
