The issue of missing citizens is regularly raised at the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to President of South Ossetia and the head of the Republic's delegation represented in this format, said at then press conference in Tskhinval.
According to him, the initiative to discuss the topic of the missing persons in Geneva came from the South Ossetian delegation, since this issue is extremely painful for the Republic.
"Dozens of our citizens are listed to be missing. The particularly egregious case occurred in October 2008, when the teenagers Soltan Pliev, Alan Khachirov and Alan Khugaev were abducted by then Georgian security forces. There are video recordings confirming their cruel treatment during their detention in Georgia. Currently, nothing is known about the whereabouts of these guys," he said.
Kochiev has emphasized that South Ossetia has been unsuccessfully seeking the information about the fate of these teenagers for a long time.
He has noted that Georgia, while formally agreeing to the need for search operations, in fact hinders their implementation in every possible way.
Kochiev has expressed hope that South Ossetia will eventually find out the fate of not only these boys, but also all the other missing citizens.
