The issue of violations of the South Ossetian border by the Georgian side is constantly raised within the framework of the International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, Konstantin Kochiev, State Advisor to President of the Republic of South Ossetia, said at the press conference dedicated to the results of the past round in Geneva.
“Designating the border line on the ground is beneficial to the population on both sides, as it can prevent accidental crossings and the consequences associated with them.
The cases of unintentional border crossings occur frequently, and sometimes deliberate provocations with border violations are observed from Georgia,” Kochiev said.
He emphasized that the earliest possible completion of negotiations on the delimitation and demarcation of the border will ensure peace and security for both sides.
"There is no room for misunderstanding where the state border passes," he has noted.
Kochiev has noted that South Ossetia continues to insist on delimiting the border, considering it a necessary step.
"Designating the border on the ground will help to avoid misunderstandings and ensure peaceful life. Many countries in the world equip their borders to prevent unauthorized crossings, and South Ossetia is guided by the same considerations," he has clarified.
