Members of the Russian Central Election Commission Anton Lopatin and Konstantin Mazurevsky will take part in the international observation of the presidential elections in South Ossetia next Sunday. This was reported by the press service of the CEC of the Russian Federation on Thursday.
"The CEC of Russia will take part in the international observation of the presidential elections in South Ossetia. Anton Lopatin and Konstantin Mazurevsky will represent the Commission," the statement says.
Earlier it was reported that delegations from Russia, the republics of Donbass, Abkhazia, Austria, Venezuela, Germany, Nagorno-Karabakh, Nicaragua, Finland and others would arrive in South Ossetia to monitor the presidential elections.
The presidential elections in South Ossetia will be held on April 10. The current head of state Anatoly Bibilov, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexander Pliev, leader of the Nykhas political party Alan Gagloev, deputy Garry Muldarov and former deputy Dmitry Tasoev will be competing for the highest state post of the Republic.
Citizens of the Republic will be able to vote at the polling stations in the Republic of South Ossetia, in Moscow, Sukhum and North Ossetia.
The head of the Republic is elected for a term of five years. The same person cannot hold this position for more than two consecutive terms.
The incumbent president, Anatoly Bibilov, was elected to this post in April 2017.
