A collection point for humanitarian aid for residents of Syria and Turkey affected by the devastating earthquake has opened in Tskhinval. As Valentina Gatikoyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy and Sports of South Ossetia told the “Res” news agency, everyone who wished, by virtue of the abilities, could provide all possible assistance to the victims.
Gatikoeva has noted that in connection with the instructions of the head of state Alan Gagloev, the Committee promptly worked out all organizational issues and since Tuesday morning the collection point has already been opened in the building of the Committee on Youth Policy and Sports.
“I am sure that people of South Ossetia will show humanity and support the people of Turkey and Syria. People can bring warm clothes, essentials, etc. Any support is important to the victims,” she has stressed.
According to her, those wishing to provide assistance can come to the collection point at any time.
This decision was made for the convenience of citizens who wish to contribute to the humanitarian action.
“We understand that citizens will not be able to come and support the residents of Turkey and Syria during working hours, and therefore the collection point for assistance will be opened until late in the evening. Moreover, in order to openness and accessibility of information, it was decided to record all those who provided assistance,” Gatikoeva said.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, the collection point will not accept funds; this issue will be resolved through the relevant departments.
It should be reminded, that on Monday evening President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev instructed to work out the issues of collection and provision of humanitarian aid to Syria and Turkey affected by the devastating earthquake.
