A solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial complex to the fallen defenders of the republic and at the chapel at the memorial cemetery in the courtyard of the secondary school No. 5 took place in Tskhinval.
The laying ceremony was timed to coincide with the Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Defense Ministry of South Ossetia.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Deputy Head of of the Presidential Executive Office of South Ossetia Anna Chochieva, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic Alan Alborov, Russian Ambassador to the Republic Marat Kulakhmetov, heads of the ministries and departments, servicemen of South Ossetia, the public and guests of the Republic.
Defender of the Fatherland Day in South Ossetia, along with Russia, is celebrated annually on February 23. This significant day is considered the day of military glory, a holiday of men and women who participated in the defense of the Motherland.
