Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia has expressed condolences to the family of Russian diplomat Valery Loshchinin, who passed away on March 14 at the age of 83.

"The outstanding Russian diplomat and statesman, a retired Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary has died. The most important stages in the recent history of South Ossetia are connected with the name of Valery Vasilyevich," the Foreign Ministry's telegram of condolences reads.

The Ministry has noted that while holding the position of Secretary of State - First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2000, Loshchinin was taking an active part in the work on the peaceful settlement of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, including within the framework of the Joint Control Commission.

"We will always remember his high professionalism, his kind attitude towards South Ossetia and support of its interests," the Ministry stressed, expressing deep condolences to Loshchinin's family and friends.
