President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, at the meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, said that the Republic, more than ever, should coordinate actions with the Russian Federation in the current situation.
"We see what complex geopolitical processes are taking place today, therefore, more than ever, we must coordinate our actions within the framework of a common security contour," Gagloev said.
Russia recognized the sovereignty of South Ossetia on August 26, 2008, on September 9 of the same year, diplomatic relations were established, and on September 17, 2008, a bilateral Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance was signed. On April 27, 2009, the Embassy of the Russian Federation was opened in Tskhinval.
