President Alan Gagloev instructed Minister of Culture Rada Dzagoeva to prepare a plan of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The head of state announced this during a working meeting on Thursday, the press service of the head of state reports.
"In the coming year, we will be celebrating the important date - the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Large-scale events are planned for this date throughout Russia and the post-Soviet space. South Ossetia must approach the celebration of this significant date for all of us with all responsibility," Gagloev said.
The President has emphasized that the Ossetians hold first place in the number of heroes of the Great Patriotic War per capita among all other nationalities, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the heroes today, shoulder to shoulder with their Russian brothers, continue to fight neo-Nazism in the zone of the special military operation.
"Undoubtedly, as during the Great Patriotic War, Victory will now be ours," Alan Gagloev said.
Dzagoeva has noted that by the end of this year, a plan of events for the 80th anniversary of the Victory will be presented. She has added that various events have already been planned and will start immediately after the New Year holidays in 2025.
"The entire cultural sphere, in cooperation with other authorities of the Republic, will take the most active part in the preparation and celebration of this significant date. We plan to carry out extensive and effective work not only in the Republic itself, but also to take part in the anniversary events outside of South Ossetia," the Minister said.
