President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met in St. Petersburg with a delegation of the Republic of Nicaragua headed by Presidential Adviser, Special Representative of President of Nicaragua for Interaction with the Russian Federation Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo.
Alan Gagloev welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for Nicaragua's principled position towards South Ossetia.
“Dear friends, first of all, I would like to thank you for the constant support of the Republic of South Ossetia, for your unchanging position on the issue of recognizing our state. .
Representatives of the fraternal Republic of Nicaragua are close to our people both on holidays and on mournful dates.
I am glad to have the opportunity to discuss the issues that are taking place today in the world and in South Ossetia in particular.
Nicaragua is the second country that, after the Russian Federation, recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, for which, on behalf of its people, I once again want to thank you. Representatives of the Republic were also present at the state holidays in Nicaragua, which once again indicates that peoples of South Ossetia and Nicaragua are gradually getting closer. I am sure that if we make an effort, we will be able to further develop and strengthen the ties that have already been established between our countries.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to convey my warmest wishes to the dear friend of the South Ossetian people, Mr. President Daniel Ortega, and to the entire Nicaraguan people,” the President said.
Laureano Ortega thanked Alan Gagloev and expressed his readiness to develop relations between the two countries in all areas.
“I want to convey to you the deepest gratitude and friendly greetings from our President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo. Once again I want to emphasize that we support the sovereignty of South Ossetia and the fact that you are defending it. Taking this opportunity, we want to invite you to the celebration of Revolution Day - July 19th. At the moment, representatives of the government of Nicaragua are present at the Forum, who are ready to discuss issues of our cooperation. We are ready to develop relations between our countries in all areas,” Ortega said.
As you know, Nicaragua is now immersed in the transformation that the whole world is going through. We are now witnessing the birth of a new world order. We maintain relations and develop ties with various countries and international organizations: countries such as Russia, China, the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS countries, Arab and African countries, Central American countries.
We are working to improve this world. We must work together to counter the aggression of the United States and Europe, to cope with the imposed sanctions, with the wars. And we must support each other, working together on a multipolar world.
We are confident that we have a very great potential for developing relations with South Ossetia,” he said.
Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo has also stressed that it is necessary to work in the field of international law, which must be applied without double standards and not serve the interests of empires exclusively.
“We must work in all areas: in the economy, culture, science and turn into a big bloc that will have weight.
We have an established leader, which is Daniel Ortega, we have an integration policy that we are developing to be a landmark in Central America.
We support and are fully prepared to develop and maintain political and diplomatic relations with Ossetia, work in the field of investments and receive entrepreneurs from Ossetia in Nicaragua,” he said.
Alan Gagloev, in turn, has noted that this year people of South Ossetia are celebrating the anniversary date - the 15th anniversary of the recognition of the state independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation and Nicaragua.
“I take this opportunity to invite our dear friend Mr. President Daniel Ortega to the celebration of the Day of Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation and Nicaragua.
On such significant dates, representatives of both South Ossetia and Nicaragua should be together. Our peoples are similar to a certain extent: we are freedom-loving peoples who have defended their independence. We are doing everything possible to preserve and strengthen the relations that have developed between our countries and the Russian Federation.
We remember the statement of Mr. President Daniel Ortega, who called the United States "the conductor of a terrorist orchestra." We are confident that the special military operation being carried out by the Russian Federation will be brought to its logical end. We will have new opportunities to expand relations in the areas you have identified.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish President Daniel Ortega good health, and the people of Nicaragua prosperity, well-being and a peaceful sky,” the President said.
