The delegation of the Parliament of South Ossetia, headed by First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Body Peter Gassiev, met with the Chairman of the "Fair Russia-For Truth" party, the head of the faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Sergei Mironov.
According to the press service of the Parliament of South Ossetia, the delegation of South Ossetia has also included Deputy Speakers of the Parliament Alexander Pliev and Vladimir Kelekhsaev, MP Alan Tadtaev.
For the Russian part, the meeting was attended by Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Deputy Head of the "Fair Russia-For Truth" faction, and Alexander Romanovich, Plenipotentiary Representative of the "Fair Russia-For Truth" Party Chairman on International Affairs.
Sergei Mironov thanked his colleagues for the visit, having reminded that our peoples are united by a common history and a joint struggle for the independence of the Republic. He has also stressed that South Ossetia, like "Fair Russia-For Truth", officially recognized the independence of the DPR and the LPR in May 2014.
Peter Gassiev has noted that he has great respect for Russian history, culture and the Russian language, which remains the second state language in the Republic and is used for teaching in schools, universities, for office work and legal proceedings.
Vladimir Kelekhsaev invited Sergei Mironov to visit South Ossetia, as well as to communicate more in the framework of the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Alan Tadtaev shared his opinion on how to raise the tourism industry in South Ossetia.
“The Republic has great potential in the tourism sector, but the industry can be developed only if there are no delays in crossing the border. So far, unfortunately, traffic jams on the border with the Russian Federation are stretching for several kilometers,” he said.
Sergei Mironov announced his intention to help speed up the work in this direction.
The delegation of the Parliament of South Ossetia is taking part in the international parliamentary forum of the CIS "Pushkin Readings", dedicated to the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication, which is taking place in Moscow.
The South Ossetian delegation also laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin walls in Moscow.
