The international festival “Ossetia - Russia: common cultural heritage” will be held in South Ossetia on October 23-24. This was reported on the website of the organizer - the Heritage Foundation of Russian Abroad.
The festival tells about the outstanding compatriots who found themselves far from their homeland at the beginning of the 20th century, but who became ambassadors of Russian culture throughout the world. The writer Gaito Gazdanov, whose 120th anniversary is celebrated this year, will become the central figure of the festival in South Ossetia - the exhibition, performance, and round table will be dedicated to him,” the report has noted.
On October 23, the exhibition “Gaito Gazdanov. Homecoming. 120 years." Later, at 12.30, the university will host a round table dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Gaito Gazdanov - “Gaito Gazdanov. At the crossroads of traditions." On the square in front of the State Drama Theater in the center of Tskhinval, Iin the evening, at 16.00, a street exhibition about the natives of the Russian Empire who made a significant contribution to the cultural and scientific heritage of the whole world, entitled “Geniuses of the Russian Abroad,” will open. At 17.00 the theater will also host a public reading of the play based on the stories of Gaito Gazdanov “Three Faces of Death”.
As part of the festival, in the village of Leningor, on October 24, at 17.00 there will also took place a concert at which the works from the repertoire of the outstanding singers Fyodor Chaliapin, Vadim Mulerman and Emil Gorovets will be performed.
