The statehood of Nauru is based on a special national character and the spirit of the people, the historical path of which personifies the desire for peace, development and creation, the congratulatory message of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Finance of Nauru on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic says.
"People of Ossetia will always be grateful to the invaluable support that Republic of Nauru provided for South Ossetia, recognizing its sovereignty and independence," the message published on the official website of the RSO Foreign Ministry reads .
The diplomatic relations between Nauru and Southern Ossetia were established on December 16, 2009.
Nauru became the fourth country that recognized the independence of South Ossetia after Russia, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
