Tuesday evening South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov attended a state reception organized in honor of the Day of Russia in the Russian Embassy in the Republic of South Ossetia. The event was also attended by members of the government, members of parliament, leaders of the South Ossetian parties, members of the South Ossetian State University, representatives of public organizations and mass media of the Republic, officers of the Russian 4th military base, Russian border guards.
"Today we are witnessing a living, dynamic process of formation, strengthening and development of the Russian statehood," - said the president.
The Head of State noted that warm relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and Russia had been established long ago.
"These relationships are built on the principles of a strategic partnership and business cooperation, and on the principles of friendship and brotherhood. Therefore, on behalf of our people, I would like to thank the Russian Federation, the people of Russia and the top leadership for the great assistance over the last few years. I would like to express special gratitude to the staff of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in our Republic for the tremendous work being done in the name of rapprochement between Russia and South Ossetia and improvement of the standard of living of our citizens. Together with Russia we will do everything in our power for the people to feel care of themselves after passing through terrible ordeals,"- he said.
On behalf of the people of South Ossetia the President congratulated the people of Russia on this momentous day and wished the Russian state consolidation, development and prosperity.
Russian citizens in South Ossetia were also congratulated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev.
Diplomatic mission of South Ossetia has been holding the state reception on the occasion of the main state holiday of the Russian Federation - the Day of Russia- for the last five years.
To celebrate the Day of Russia, in the evening of June 12 in Tskhinval will be given a solo concert by the Russian chanson singer Rada Rai, as well as a performance by children's creative team from Tskhinval "Iron".
In South Ossetia the Day of Russia is a public holiday and a day off.
