The conference "August aggression of Georgia and the recognition of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia: geopolitical implications, lessons and conclusions," timed to the fifth anniversary of Russia's recognition of the independence of South Ossetia, will be held in Tskhinval.
The conference is organized by the State Committee of Information and Press of South Ossetia, the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, South Ossetian Media Center "Ir."
As reported to the news agency "Res" by the Chairman of the State Committee of Information and Press Vyacheslav Gobozov, the conference will bring together scientists, diplomats, experts, representatives of non-governmental and international organizations of South Ossetia, Russia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The purpose of the event is a scientific and practical understanding of the results of the "August war "in 2008, the current status of the Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Russian relations, as well as the trends of the situation in the region" - said Gobozov.
At the conference is scheduled to discuss a number of reports, including "Georgian-Ossetian relations in the regional context," "Georgia's aggression against South Ossetia on August 8, 2008: causes and consequences," "August war" and the external factor."
"In addition, participants of the forum will be offered to discuss a topic "Advocacy war: methods and mechanisms by example of covering the Georgian aggression in Russian and foreign media," "The aftermath of the recognition: problems and prospects of the young state," "The Russian-Georgian relations: the price of "warming,"" "Caucasus, five years after the war: trends and prospects ", - said Gobozov.
During the conference will also take place a presentation of the book by the Russian experts Vladimir Zakharov and Andrei Areshev "The recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia: political and legal aspects."
Following the conference will be published a collection of the delivered papers.
