According to the head of the delegation, Peter Gassiev, South Ossetia cannot remain aloof from the political processes taking place in Abkhazia.
“Presidential elections will be held in Abkhazia, and I should ll note that there is a rather difficult political situation there. Of course, we, as a fraternal republic, cannot remain aloof. We accepted the invitation to come to the polls as international observers from the Republic of South Ossetia. The delegation has also included a representative of the Presidential Executive Office and a representative of the CEC,” he said.
The parliamentarian has also expressed confidence that the elections in Abkhazia will be held in an exclusively democratic vein, without going beyond the framework of international law.
The election of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia will be held on August 25, 2019. For the first time in the history of the presidential election in Abkhazia, 10 candidates are participating in the campaign. Simultaneously with the head of Abkhazia, a Vice President is also elected.
