President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov met with Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, the presidential press service reports.
The head of state congratulated the Ambassador on the 11th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, and also addressed words of sincere gratitude to the leadership of Russia for their careful attitude to South Ossetia.
“The establishment of diplomatic relations is the most important step taken after the Russian Federation recognized the independence of South Ossetia. The people of the republic are grateful to the leadership of Russia for the political decision adopted on August 26, 2008, which was necessary and correct. Of course, the establishment of diplomatic relations allowed us to develop other areas of cooperation with the Russian Federation, the results of which are obvious.
As for cooperation between the foreign affairs agencies of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, it is obvious that there is close interaction, systematic and effective work, which cannot but rejoice,” said Anatoly Bibilov.
In turn, Marat Kulakhmetov thanked the head of the South Ossetian state for the welcome and emphasized his continued readiness for cooperation and full interaction with the Republic of South Ossetia.
“For 11 years we have come a long way. Most importantly, the Russian Federation contributes and will always contribute to the establishment of South Ossetia as a young state and its international recognition,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev.
