A resident of the village of Prineu in Znaur district of South Ossetia discovered an anti-tank mine during agricultural work, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia reports.
“The last days there have been heavy rains, as a result of which the river banks have been eroded. It was thanks to this that the mine was discovered. The ammunition was without a fuse, but, as experts noted, it was still dangerous. The 1957 anti-tank mine lay in the ground for a long time. Sappers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB of the Republic promptly went to the place of detection, examined the shell and took it out for further destruction,” the rescue department explained.
The press service has added that today at the firing ground there were destroyed the finds, discovered the other day. In particular, they destroyed the RPG-18 and M-57, one unit each.
