South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov responded to Western politicians by advising those claiming the "occupation of South Ossetia" to turn to the reference books.
“This is a unique situation. in general. Yesterday these states supported the Georgian regime, which set the task of destroying the people of South Ossetia. The Russian Federation then decided to send troops and force Georgia to peace. That is, in fact, Russia, despite their position, took this step, absolutely realizing that if it does not intervene, our people will be destroyed,” the President said in a comment to the “Res” news agency.
According to him, the destiny of Russia is to constantly help those who are in a difficult situation.
“What should Russia have chosen? To listen to the voice of the West, which actually incited the Saakashvili regime to destroy our people? And, by default, and not by default, he supported it with weapons, equipment, and communications ... Consider the opinion those who supported this regime in order to give an opportunity to destroy the people of Ossetia or save this people? Russia is constantly helping those who are in a difficult situation. This is in Syria, and in Abkhazia, and in Serbia, and in other countries. And, thank God, there is definitely peace in these states,” said the head of state.
He has added that, naturally, the appeal of a number of members of the UN Security Council for the Russian Federation does not mean anything.
“There is already a commentary on this score, which clearly states that Russia has undertaken obligations and will act in the interests of the Russian Federation itself, in this case with respect to South Ossetia, as defined by international treaties between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia, where it is clearly indicated that an attack on one party is taken by the other one as an attack on its own country. Therefore, this statement is such a move for the Georgian leadership: we do not forget about you, but we cannot do anything, but you know, we are with you, just in case,” the President said.
Anatoly Bibilov advised those claiming the "occupation of South Ossetia" to turn to reference literature .
“This is an incomprehensible move aimed at confirming this phantom idea - to withdraw the troops, liberate the “occupied” territories ... What kind of occupation? It would be nice if those who made the statement, at least in Wikipedia or in the dictionary, read what the occupation is. We are no occupied, we have a state that is being built, we do not have some kind of external government that is controlling all of us here. We have international relations with many other states, of course, the Russian Federation has always been, is and will be a strategic partner in these relations,” the President explained.
The head of state noted that "the appeal of the representatives of a number of European countries does not concern South Ossetia at all, those whom it concerns - let them consider it."
"Vladimir Putin at this time is signing an order" On the signing of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship. " Thus, he implies that the interests of Russia, including in South Ossetia, the interests of South Ossetia, including on an international scale, will be protected. It seems to me that this is a very nice response of the President of Russia to the statement of these countries,” concluded the head of state.
