Inal Tasoev spoke about the results of the meeting in the format of a trilateral mechanism to search for missing persons

Inal Tasoev, South Ossetian Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights told the IA "Res " about the results of the meeting held on Friday within the framework of the Trilateral Coordination Mechanism to address the issue of persons missing in connection with the armed conflicts of the 1990s and August 2008.

"During the meeting, a detailed discussion of the steps taken, which were agreed upon at the previous meeting of the Coordination Mechanism, took place, among which it can be noted: collection of biological control samples from relatives of the missing persons, field work carried out to search for the remains of the missing persons in South Ossetia and Georgia, involvement of international experts in the search for the missing persons, "Tasoev said.

According to him, all the participants in the meeting noted the importance of searching for information on possible burials, including with the involvement of various sources, as well as conducting the information campaigns.

" There was also exchange of views on the forensic medical activities carried out in 2021, including on identification processes and international laboratories for conducting various types of testing," the Ombudsman emphasized.

Besides Inal Tasoev, South Ossetia was represented at the meeting by Yegor Kochiev, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement.

The meetings are attended by representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia, Russia and Georgia. The meetings are chaired by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The next meeting within the framework of the trilateral mechanism is scheduled for March-April 2022.
