Artistic Director of the South Ossetian State Drama Theater Tamerlan Dzudtsov commented to the “Res” news agency on the initiative of the President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov to organize exchange tours of theaters in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
The issue of strengthening cultural ties between the two fraternal republics and, in particular, the exchange tours of theater companies in Sukhum and Tskhinval, the head of state voiced last Thursday during the negotiations with the Abkhaz leader, Aslan Bzhania.
“I consider the initiative of the President to be very timely and important for the development of our theater and the strengthening of cultural ties between the two republics,” Dzudtsov said. “We considered the idea of exchange tours back in 2019, but we had to adjust the existing plans in connection with subsequent events related to the coronavirus pandemic.”
The artistic director noted that "the head of state is very attentive to the sphere of culture, in every possible way supporting the state drama theater in its endeavors and development, another confirmation of which is the initiative he voiced to organize a tour to Abkhazia."
“The troupe of our theater enthusiastically embraced the President's idea.
Our repertoire is quite diverse, there are performances of national and Russian classics, world drama. We have something to show the Abkhaz audience, this also applies to the popularization of our culture, the demonstration of the skills of our artists. With great pleasure we are ready to receive our colleagues from Abkhazia, our theater has all the possibilities for this,” Dzudtsov noted.
According to him, since the spring of this year, the South Ossetian State Drama Theater has been successfully touring: the creative troupe has traveled to Moscow, Grozny, Vladikavkaz; in early October, South Ossetian artists will also take part in the festival in Dagestan.
