South Ossetia will join the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological Weapons

South Ossetia will join the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons as well as Their Destruction of December 16, 1971.

The corresponding decision was made at the session of the Parliament of the Republic on Monday.

The draft law was submitted to the Parliament for consideration by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary relations Zaza Dryaev.

The head of the Committee, Zaza Dryaev, has reminded that at the meeting of the Committee on November 29, 2022, the issue of the appeal of the chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the parliaments of the countries of the world on the need to strengthen the regime of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction was considered.

The adopted bill will be sent to President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev for signing and publication.

In addition, the Parliament of South Ossetia unanimously supported the appeal of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the parliaments of the countries of the world and international parliamentary organizations in connection with the incessant strikes against the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
