The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of South Ossetia, Lieutenant-General Alexei Varziev, became a two-time world champion in self-defense. A high sports rank was awarded to him according to the results of the World Cup in hand-to-hand combat, where Varziev took part as part of the South Ossetian team, the press service of the KGB of the RSO reports.

“After a brilliant performance, the team returned home with various prizes, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of South Ossetia became a two-time world champion - he was awarded the title of master of sports of international class,” the press service said.

The press service has added that the leadership and staff of the Committee congratulated Alexei Varziev and the South Ossetian fighters on a worthy victory, "who in fact proved their focus on results and the ability to conquer any peaks."

The national team of South Ossetia at the competitions in Moscow was represented by twelve employees of the power structures of the Republic.

More than 300 athletes from 21 countries took part in the competition.
