Minister of Defense of South Ossetia, Guards Colonel Marat Pavlov presented on Friday the medals "For Military Merit" to the participants in the hostilities to repel the Georgian aggression against the Republic in August 2008, the press service of the defense department reports.
The defenders of the Republic were awarded the departmental awards for their courage and selflessness. The head of the department expressed gratitude to those present for their contribution to upholding the national interests of the Motherland.
“I am very glad that there are conscious citizens in South Ossetia who do not forget the feats of real brave warriors and take the initiative to award them.
We remember and appreciate your feat even years later. In the same way, Russia appreciates the feat of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, many of whom were awarded medals even after 70 years,” he said.
The participants of the event, in turn, thanked the Minister of Defense and wished him success in his future work.
