At the meeting in the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format South Ossetia raised the issue of provocations by the Georgian police.
The 112th meeting in the IPRM format ended on the border of South Ossetia and Georgia. As Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation, told journalists, most of the questions were related to the violation of the state border by representatives of the Georgian police.
“At the very beginning of the meeting, we have stressed that the main achievement of our meetings is peace and tranquility between our states. For the sake of preserving peace, this dialogue continues and, in my opinion, has a very important result,” he said.
Meanwhile, the head of the delegation noted that a wide range of important issues were discussed, and most of them were related to the violation of the state border by representatives of the Georgian police.
“It seems that the Georgian police are deliberately provoking our border guards to respond. This was also pointed out to the international observers present at the meeting. We hope that the next period will be calmer and provocations from the Georgian side will stop,” Kochiev said.
He has noted that from mid-March to mid-April, about 7 cases of provocations were recorded.
“It was the border between the states and the Georgian police drove right up to the fence. There was another unpleasant incident. They accompanied a representative of the non-governmental organization, a certain David Katsarava, who insulted representatives of the border guard service and posted a video on social networks,” Kochiev said.
He has stressed that the South Ossetian party pointed out the inadmissibility of these actions. Also at the meeting, flights of unmanned aerial vehicles were discussed.
Kochiev has noted that the reaction of the Georgian party regarding this topic has changed.
“We consider this the achievement. Previously, the Georgian party completely denied the fact that the drones belonged to them. This time, their answer sounded different. It was mentioned that we see aircraft, but they do not, because the observation is carried out from a different point, ”added the Deputy.
The head of the delegation has clarified that video recordings that fill the Georgian segment of social networks are being presented as evidence of violation of the airspace of the Republic.
“Georgian experts involved in the launch of drones upload these videos to the public. In our opinion, this is direct evidence that the devices are flying to us from the Georgian side,” he said.
According to Kochiev, the delegates discussed the issues of timely informing about various actions, but, in general, the meeting was held in a constructive manner.
He has explained that issues were identified that are of interest to the South Ossetian party. Among other things, the illegal Georgian police post near the village of Uista (Tsnelis) was once again discussed.
“In this area, the presence of the Georgian policemen was repeatedly recorded in places where they should not be. Armed persons were seen on the territory of the talc plant, which is categorically unacceptable. We once proposed a solution to this problem, but the Georgian party preferred to follow the path of destabilization,” Kochiev said.
.On the eve of the consideration of security issues in the region, the delegates held a technical meeting at which they discussed the problem of supplying irrigation water to the Tsinagar zone.
“Both parties have expressed hope that this year it will be possible to provide irrigation water to both the South Ossetian and Georgian sides,” Kochiev said.
The head of the South Ossetian delegation said that many nuances had been identified at the 112th meeting and expressed hope that the Georgian representatives would take appropriate measures.
The next IPRM meeting is scheduled for July 3rd.
