The events dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Georgian military aggression were held in the village of Tsinagar in the Leningor district of South Ossetia. They were attended by Prime Minister of the Republic Konstantin Dzhussoev, the press service of the government reports.
On this day 32 years ago, seven civilians of the village - Otar Margiev, Givi Bibilov, Slavik Chertkoev, Zaur Khubulov, Otar Khubulov, Tengiz Dudaev and Taimuraz Khubulov were mercilessly shot just for standing in the way of armed Georgian punishers who tried to steal cattle from the pasture - the only source of livelihood of the villagers at that difficult time time.
Representatives of the executive and legislative branches of government and the public also gathered to pay tribute to the memory of the courage of the Tsinagar people.
Speaking at the rally, the head of government noted that South Ossetia had found peace at the cost of huge sacrifices, and the crimes against humanity systematically committed by Georgian nationalists against civilians in South Ossetia for a century require investigation and international legal assessment.
“The recent history of South Ossetia has been marked by many mourning dates. The Tsinagar tragedy is one of them. Today we are paying tribute to the memory of our seven fellow countrymen, killed on April 28, 1991. Unarmed, they were heroically defending their native village from the outrages of the Georgian nationalists. 23 people became victims of the Georgian aggression in Leningor districts. We remember each of them, and this memory is sacred," the press service quoted Dzhussoev as saying.
For each Ossetian, according to the Prime Minister, it is important that the victims of this terrible tragedy, like many others in the history of the South Ossetian long-suffering people, are not forgotten.
"This will help achieve the main task - to provide a worthy rebuff to Nazism in any of its manifestations, and to prevent the recurrence of this," he said.
The feat of the Tsinagar people, like all the defenders of the Fatherland who gave their lives for the future of the Republic, will forever remain in the grateful memory of the Ossetian people, concluded Konstantin Dzhussoev.
