The head of the Ministry of Justice of South Ossetia, Oleg Gagloev, took part in the open meeting of ministers of justice "International cooperation of ministries of justice: new formats and horizons", organized as part of the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
According to the press service on the official website of the Ministry, the meeting was attended by justice ministers from 24 countries, including the Middle East and Africa.
The event was opened by the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko, who welcomed his foreign colleagues and thanked them for participating in the SPBILF-2023.
“Participants of the open meeting were invited to share their national experience in state building and discuss what the justice of the future looks like, taking into account the synchronization of approaches in building effective channels of interaction in the field of international justice,” the statement of the press service reads.
Minister of Justice of the RSO Oleg Gagloev spoke about the South Ossetian practice during his speech.
“The development of the justice system in our country continues, and we are trying to synchronize this process both with the development of our young country and with global trends in the development of law,” he said.
The head of the Ministry of Justice of South Ossetia expressed confidence in the inevitability of the unification of legal systems in the conditions of the modern world and noted the importance of open electronic sources of legal information by analogy with the Russian portal pravo.gov.ru, the Kazakh "Adilet" and others.
In his speech, he also outlined such an urgent problem as the mutual recognition of documents between countries. The Minister has noted that the application of international experience in this matter is difficult for countries such as South Ossetia, due to a number of political reasons.
According to Oleg Gagloev, the existing mechanisms are outdated in the modern digital world, where new pace is set for the implementation of existing procedures.
“Justice authorities should work out a universal approach in the interests of our citizens, whether it will be through electronic document management, digital interaction of justice authorities or artificial intelligence,” he stressed.
The Minister also spoke about the main activities of the Ministry of Justice of South Ossetia and current tasks.
