The V. Ardzimba State Museum of Military Glory of Abkhazia was handed over the medals of the Defense Ministry of South Ossetia "Khuybylty Valeri" and "Dzhioty Alan" for honorary storage, the press service of the defense department of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.
The Departmental awards were handed over on behalf of the Defense Minister of South Ossetia, Guard Colonel Marat Pavlov, in order to perpetuate the memory of the founder of the Defense Ministry Valery Khubulov and First Deputy Defense Minister, Commander of the National Guard Troops Alan Dzhioev in the fraternal Republic of Abkhazia.
The solemn ceremony took place in one of the halls of the museum - the medals were handed over to the director of the institution, the hero of Abkhazia, Mzia Beya.
Igor Kokoev read out a welcome address from the Defense Minister of South Ossetia, in which it was noted that "to protect the independence and territorial integrity, repel the military aggression of Georgia in 1992-1993, one of the first volunteers from the Republic of South Ossetia arrived in fraternal Abkhazia."
“The command of the Ossetian detachments was carried out by Khubulov Valery Nikolaevich and Dzhioev Alan Sokratovich, who were actively interacting with the command of the Abkhaz army, the top leadership of the Republic of Abkhazia, including the Chairman of the Supreme Council Ardzimba Vladislav Grigorievich.
The heroic defense of the Abkhazian people of their independence and sovereignty, the wise leadership of the young republic by Vladislav Grigorievich Ardzimba contributed to the historic victory in the Patriotic War of the Abkhazian people,” the welcome address noted.
For her part, Mzia Beya expressed her gratitude to the representatives of South Ossetia and noted that “the medals “Khuybylty Valeri” and “Dzhioty Alan”, issued in honor of the outstanding sons of Ossetia, volunteers of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia in 1992–1993, will occupy a worthy place in the museum's expositions and will be exhibited on a permanent basis."
She has stressed that the memory of the volunteers who came to the aid of Abkhazia at the most difficult moment is sacred and will be carefully preserved and protected.
In addition, the Acting Deputy Defense Minister of Abkhazia, Secretary of State Colonel David Bzhaniya, handed over to the representatives of South Ossetia a welcome address from the Defense Minister of Abkhazia, Colonel-General Vladimir Anua for Alan Dzhioev’s mother, Elena Vaneeva, as well as a badge with Alan Dzhioev’s certificate “To the Participant of the Patriotic War 1992 –1993”.
The welcome address contains the words of gratitude to Dzhioev's mother, who raised a brave and noble son who, without hesitation, stood up for Abkhazia and its people, showing the best qualities of a true son of the Caucasus.
