South Ossetian State University and the Syrian University of Aleppo signed a cooperation agreement. The signing of the important document took place online. The event was attended by university professors from both countries.
Adviser to President of South Ossetia Batradz Begizov read out the welcoming speech of the head of state Alan Gagloev. It said that for South Ossetia, the development with the Syrian Arab Republic is important.
“Syria is one of those courageous countries that recognized the independence of our country. We highly appreciate the noble determination of the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic and personally President Bashar al-Assad for this responsible decision,” the welcoming speech of the head of state reads .
It has also been noted that South Ossetia’s relations with its Syrian partner are built on the principles of international law and are aimed at further developing full-scale political, economic, cultural cooperation and interaction between the two states.
“Today’s signing of the agreement between the South Ossetian State University and the University of Aleppo of the Syrian Arab Republic is another clear confirmation of the goodwill of our peoples and the strengthening of relationships, including at the level of higher educational institutions. I am convinced that the implementation of the provisions reflected in this document will give a new impetus to the educational activities of educational institutions in our countries,”
It was also said in the President's welcoming message.
Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev has noted that the University is ready to cooperate with the University of Aleppo of the Syrian Arab Republic in all areas.
“The University of Aleppo is one of the leading universities in the Syrian Arab Republic and we are honored to sign this agreement today. We hope that our cooperation will give a positive impetus on the issues such as exchange of experience, joint scientific activities, and joint holding of scientific and practical events. I am convinced that this agreement will allow our universities to continue moving forward with confidence,” Tedeev said.
According to him, it would be nice to consider creating groups of students from both universities; students from Aleppo could study the Ossetian language and history, and students from South Ossetian State University could study Arabic language and culture.
Tedeev has emphasized that today, for the first time, South Ossetian State University has signed the agreement with a university from a foreign country.
He has also added that in 2022, a citizen of the Syrian Arab Republic graduated from South Ossetian State University.
President of the University of Aleppo, Doctor of Physics and Chemistry, Professor Maher Karman has noted that this agreement will enable both universities to cooperate fruitfully.
“We are ready for fruitful cooperation. The agreement contains a variety of points affecting scientific activity, exchange of experience, students, and we are ready to interact on all aspects,” Karman said.
