The processes of integration of North and South Ossetia are in no way connected with the different versions of the name of the Republic, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has noted at the press conference in Tskhinval, answering the question of whether he considers it appropriate to use the name “Republic of South Ossetia-Alania”, confirming irreversibility of political and legal integration of the two Ossetias.
“The unity of the Ossetian people is beyond doubt. I can say with confidence that the process of integration of North and South Ossetia is gradually developing. We are in constant contact at all levels. We have a single information space. Here is a living example for you, this question was asked by the director of one of the leading news agencies of North Ossetia, the 15th Region, Chermen Makiev. Today he turns 55 years old, and yet he is here at the press conference,” the President said.
He has also noted that Republic of South Ossetia and the State of Alania are two equivalent options for the name of the country.
“I emphasize this point. They cannot be used simultaneously, as many try to do. This contradicts the wording of the 2017 referendum, approved by the majority of residents of the Republic,” the leader of South Ossetia has noted.
